November saw a visit from local Bee Keepers Lesh and Lesley Wojnarowicz, who gave us a surprise treat with several different types of honey to taste (everyone agreed that theirs was the best).
Lesley was celebrating winning the Best Bee Keeper Award for Leicester and Rutland 2015 and we enjoyed helping her to celebrate this success.
This was a very interesting talk that really brought the subject to life. They brought along lots of equipment to give us a fascinating insight to these busy little creatures. We learnt about the bees plight with climate change and habitat loss. We were captivated by the intricacy of keeping bees to produce honey.
After the talk Lesh and Lesley kindly gave out packets of wild flower seeds to sow so that we could all get involved and do our bit to help the bees with their pollen collection in the future.
